<p><b>New page</b></p><div>The '''Kingdom of Ireland''' ([[Early Modern Irish]]: ''Ríoghacht Éireann''; [[Modern Irish]]: ''Ríocht na hÉireann'') was a [[kingdom]] which existed from 1542–1800 and comprised the modern day [[Republic of Ireland]] and [[Northern Ireland]]. It was ruled separately by the monarchs of the [[Kingdom of England]] and then the [[Kingdom of Great Britain]]. Until it was unified with the Kingdom of Great Britain to form the [[United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland]] with the [[1800 Acts of Union]], which came into effect on 1 January 1800.<br />
