Ruwiki is a Russian language online encyclopedia from Russia. It was started in July 2023 as a fork of the Russian Wikipedia.^[1] It was created by Vladimir Medeyko, who was previously involved with the Russian Wikipedia project.^[2]

The full-scale launch of Ruwiki.ru took place on January 15, 2024.^[3] The project aims to provide an alternative to the Russian Wikipedia, with content that is more aligned with the Russian government’s perspectives.^[4] Despite this, Medeyko has stated that Ruwiki.ru operates independently of the government.^[5]
