English is one of the most spoken languages in the world. More than 500 million people speak English. It is the language natively spoken by most people in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. It is also an official language defined by law as a language to be used by official instances such as governments, courts, parliaments etc.}} of India, the Philippines, Singapore, and many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa although not in the whole of United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
The English alphabet uses 26 letters of the Latin alphabet.
