A M Iktear Uddin, professionally and widely known as Advocate Anik (born 1984), is an Indian legal expert, cybercrime specialist, and the co-founder of Prime Legal, a full-service law firm based in Bangalore. He is also a legal advisor to several major startups and corporations across India and serves as a partner in firms such as Vidhikarya and OLQ Online Legal Experts. Over the course of his career, Advocate Anik has handled over 30,000 legal cases, including multiple high-profile matters related to cybercrime, corporate compliance, and criminal law.[1]
He has gained prominence for his role as Special Public Prosecutor in Karnataka and for representing clients before institutions such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and various High Courts across India.[2]
Early Life and Education
Advocate Anik was born in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal, in 1984. His early life was marked by personal tragedy, as he lost his mother, Shanaz Parvin alias Anwara (born Nanda), in 1986 and his father, Abdul Jalil, soon after. Raised in a diverse cultural background influenced by both Islamic and Hindu traditions, he later moved to Bangalore in 1999 to pursue his studies.
He completed his schooling in 2001 and pursued his Pre-University Course (PUC) until 2003. In 2003, he enrolled in a five-year integrated Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) program at Bangalore University, followed by an LL.M. in Corporate and Business Law from the prestigious University Law College (ULC), where he secured second rank and graduated with First Class in 2010.
Career
Advocate Anik began his legal journey in 2006 by working in administrative roles at a law firm in Malleswaram. In 2009, he co-founded Prime Legal alongside his partner and future spouse, Ayantika Mondal, also a lawyer. Early in his career, he also briefly lectured at a School of Business while managing a venture called Legal Troubleshooting, offering property title verification and legal advisory services.
He joined Deshraj and PC Reddy Chambers in 2010, and later worked as a Legal Associate at Dell India Pvt. Ltd. In 2015, Anik was appointed Associate Director (Legal Affairs and Law Enforcement) at ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Ola Cabs), where he managed legal issues for Ola, Foodpanda, Ola Fleet, and Ola Money.
Returning full-time to Prime Legal in 2019, he expanded his legal footprint by joining multiple advisory boards and collaborating with law firms nationally. His expertise lies in cybercrime, fintech regulations, consumer protection, criminal law, and corporate legal strategy.
Notable Work and Legal Contributions
Advocate Anik has advised on significant investigations involving financial crimes, including Enforcement Directorate cases involving up to ₹2,500 crores. He secured over ₹1 million in compensation in a landmark consumer rights case and has supported over 50 startups in areas such as manpower, IT, fintech, tourism, and employment law.

- Preet Vihar Abduction – Legal strategist behind the rescue operation of a doctor abducted by a cab driver, later featured in a true-crime TV series.
- Cybercrime Enforcement – Worked with CID cybercrime units across states including Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, and West Bengal.
- Revoking the Ban on Ola – Successfully represented Ola in court and reversed a government-imposed ban within 24 hours.
He has played an active role in law enforcement coordination, helping with trafficking rescue operations and crypto exchange compliance, and frequently collaborates with agencies like CBI, CCB, ATS, and FPU.

Outside of his practice, Anik supports non-profits like Taalsah, contributing pro bono legal services, especially in anti-human trafficking. His work has led to the rescue and repatriation of over 100 trafficked girls from countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Russia, and Afghanistan.
