Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón (born 29 February 1972) is a Spanish politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Spain since June 2018. He is a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and has been its Secretary-General since 2014, except for a brief period in 2016.
Early life and education
Pedro Sánchez was born in Madrid, Spain. He earned a degree in Economics and Business Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid and completed postgraduate studies at the Free University of Brussels.
Political career
Sánchez began his political career in the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party. He served as a member of the Congress of Deputies and gradually rose within the party ranks. In 2014, he was elected Secretary-General of PSOE.
In 2018, following a successful no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, Sánchez became Prime Minister of Spain. During his tenure, he has focused on social policies, economic reforms, and European Union relations.
Personal life
Sánchez is married to María Begoña Gómez Fernández and they have two children. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and French.
