Rangpur is the capital city of the Rangpur division in Bangladesh and is one of the most senior municipal corporations in the country. It was established in 1869. The Rangpur district was formed in 1765, and Rangpur city was designated as the divisional headquarters of the Rangpur district on 16th December 1769.
