East Asia is a subregion of Asia that includes China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, and Taiwan.[1] It is bordered by Southeast Asia to the south, Central Asia to the west, and the Pacific Ocean to the east.[2] With a population of over 1.7 billion, it is one of the most densely populated regions in the world.[3]
Geography
East Asia covers approximately 11.84 million square kilometers, making it the second-largest region in Asia.[4] The region features diverse landscapes, including the Himalayas, Gobi Desert, and fertile river valleys like the Yangtze River.[5]
