Chunarughat Thana is a police station under Chunarughat Upazila in the Habiganj District of Bangladesh.
Establishment
During British colonial rule, on August 10, 1914, under the Assam Provincial Government, the Mucikandi Thana was established in Sylhet District's Habiganj sub-division. It was located about 6 kilometers southeast of the current thana headquarters near the banks of the Khowai River. However, due to accessibility issues, the thana headquarters was relocated to Chunarughat in 1922, and it was renamed Chunarughat Thana.[1]

Railway
Habiganj Bazar–Shaistaganj–Balla Railway

During British colonial rule, train services were introduced in Habiganj sub-division of Sylhet district, which was part of (undivided British India) Assam Province. The British government constructed the Habiganj Bazar-Shaistaganj-Balla Railway in 1928, developing its infrastructure.[3] However, train services on this line ceased in 2003.[3]
The Shaistaganj-Habiganj section had four railway stations established by Assam Bengal Railway in 1928:
Shaistaganj Junction was established in 1903 by Assam Bengal Railway. In 1928-29, it became a junction when the Habiganj Bazar-Shaistaganj-Balla railway branch connection was introduced.
The Shaistaganj-Chunarughat section had seven railway stations built by Assam Bengal Railway in 1929:
