Queen's Young Leaders Award was a program that recognized exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth who were making a difference in their communities.[1]
It was established by Queen Elizabeth II and ran from 2014 to 2018.[2] The program aimed to celebrate young leaders who were working to improve lives, inspire others, and drive positive change.[3]
History
The award was part of The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme, launched in honor of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. It supported young people from Commonwealth countries between the ages of 18 and 29.[1]
Criteria
Awardees were selected based on their achievements in areas such as education, health, the environment, and supporting vulnerable groups. Winners received a unique package of training, mentoring, and networking, including a residential program in the United Kingdom where they met with Queen Elizabeth II.
End of the Program
The final cohort of award winners was honored in 2018, marking the end of the Queen’s Young Leaders Programme.
Legacy
Many of the awardees continue to lead projects and initiatives in their home countries, contributing to lasting social change across the Commonwealth.
