The United States of America (USA), commonly referred to as the United States or America, is a country primarily located in North America. It consists of 50 states, a federal district, five major unincorporated territories, and various possessions. With a population of over 331 million people, it is the third most populous country in the world.[1]
Geography
The United States spans a vast geographic area, covering 9.8 million square kilometers. It is bordered by Canada to the north, Mexico to the south, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Alaska is in the far northwest, and Hawaii is an archipelago in the central Pacific.[2]
History
