Cuba Raul Mitchell (born 23 November 2005) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. Born in England, he is of Jamaican and Bangladeshi descent and has opted to represent the Bangladesh national football team at international level.

Club career

Mitchell was born in Birmingham, England. He began his youth career with Birmingham City, before moving to Sunderland in 2022 on a two-year scholarship deal.[1]

In the 2022–23 season, Mitchell progressed from Sunderland's under-18s to their under-21 side, making 16 appearances. On 4 July 2024, he signed his first professional contract with Sunderland.[2] In the 2024–25 season, he made 7 appearances for the U21 team before being released in June 2025.[3]

International career

Mitchell is eligible to represent England, Jamaica, and Bangladesh internationally. In April 2025, the Bangladesh Football Federation contacted him for potential inclusion in the national squad. His agent later confirmed that Mitchell had pledged allegiance to Bangladesh.[4]

He obtained his Bangladeshi passport on 1 June 2025 and received FIFA clearance to represent Bangladesh the following day.[5]

Personal life

Mitchell was born to a Jamaican grandfather and a Bangladeshi mother, making him eligible for both national teams by descent.
