David Urbán Arévalo (born 1973, Kassel, Germany) is a Spanish writer of short‑story collections and fiction. His work is noted for capturing ordinary lives with extraordinary emotion.[1]
Early life and education
David Urbán Arévalo was born in 1973 in Kassel, Germany.[2] When he was two years old, his family returned to Spain, settling first in Castellón de la Plana and later in La Garriga (Barcelona) where he completed his early schooling.[3] After military service in Spain, he completed vocational training in administration (FP1) and obtained a secondary‑school adult certificate (GES).[4]
Career
Before focusing on literature, Urbán Arévalo worked in various roles, including furniture assembly and machinery painting.[5] He self-published his first collection of short stories, Breves, in 2022.[6]
His 2023 collection, Cinco narraciones y un mar, explores Mediterranean life through five narratives.[7] The same year he released Algunos relatos para recordar, featuring short stories about memory, loss, and identity.[8]
Urbán Arévalo’s work combines realism with subtle allegorical or symbolic elements, often highlighting human experiences in concise, emotionally resonant prose.[9] He currently resides in Dénia, Alicante, Spain.[10]
