Lorca Cohen (born March 1, 1974) is an American photographer, videographer, and antique dealer. She is the daughter of renowned Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen and artist Suzanne Elrod.
Early Life
Lorca Cohen was born in the United States and named after Spanish poet Federico García Lorca, a significant influence on her father. She has an older brother, Adam Cohen, born in 1972. Raised primarily by her mother following her parents' separation in 1979, Lorca spent time in New York City, Los Angeles, and Hydra, Greece, during visits with her father.
Career
Lorca has pursued a career in the arts, working as a professional photographer and videographer. She co-owned an antique store in Los Angeles and curated art projects, including a series of eleven commissioned art videos inspired by songs from her father's album New Skin for the Old Ceremony. This project was showcased at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles in December 2010 and later screened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in April 2011.
Personal Life
Lorca Cohen has two children. In 2011, she and longtime friend, singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, welcomed a daughter, Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen. She also has a son, Lyon Cohen, named after her paternal great-grandfather.
