The Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the Chancellor of Sylhet International University. The primary responsibilities of the Vice-Chancellor include:

  • Ensuring the quality of education and research.

List of Vice-Chancellors

Since its establishment in 2001, Sylhet International University has had the following Vice-Chancellors:

  1. Sadruddin Ahmed Chowdhury (2001–2011): The founding Vice-Chancellor, who played a pivotal role in establishing the university. He was also the inaugural Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.[1]
  2. Md. Shahid Ullah Talukder (2011–2023): Served as the second Vice-Chancellor, contributing to the university's growth and development.[2]
  3. Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam (2023–Present): Appointed on 13 August 2023, he is the current Vice-Chancellor, focusing on enhancing academic excellence and research initiatives. Prior to this role, he was a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.[3]
